In the future, humans will collaborate with machines to exchange and share information, work towards a common goal to fulfill individual and organizational needs. AI-driven robots and tools are predicted to replace humans in organizations to ensure agility in business operations. But the question is that if artificial intelligence and robots replace humans in offices, how will organizations reshape and optimize their business strategies to ensure the optimal integration of talent and input by the machines?
Today’s AI-driven revolution is transforming machines into intellectual collaborators. The potential advantages of a sensor-guided, robot-human collaboration are massive. But there might be certain disadvantages to this collaboration as well:
The proximity to human collaborators: Machines are more powerful than humans. Having ‘fragile’ humans work near these powerful machines might prove dangerous. Currently, these risks are minimized by simply barring humans from working near active robots, segregating machines and humans in completely different working environments, and distancing humans with shields and quad rails. In a collaborative environment, these separations are not always workable, and hence humans have to partner with active robots (or ‘cobots’ aka collaborative robots).
Data overload: Machine learning and data analytics work with rich and censored data. Data analytics derive insights from this data to help businesses make informed decisions after analyzing recent market trends, customer behavior and patterns, their needs and wants. Generating vast amounts of data might overwhelm the computing systems and cause a delay in accurate decision-making.
Cost: Businesses employ artificial intelligence tools and software to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency in business operations. But these tools and software might not be affordable for several enterprises, thus reducing their business growth and agility.
In the future, business leaders will have to accept these disadvantages, move forward with the machine and man alliance, and optimize their business operations accordingly.
Some research and surveys show that this increase in collaboration is one of the top priorities for business leaders. Without the expansion of the relationship between humans and machines across the traditional boundaries of functions and geography, businesses cannot leverage and raise their talents effectively for continuous growth and innovations.
